专题演讲嘉宾:David Wood

华为编程语言实验室研究员

David Wood is a researcher at Huawei Programming Language Lab. He works on a self-developed programming language compiler and is a core member of the Rust compiler team. He started contributing to Rust in the non-lexical lifetimes working group and has since contributed widely. He has been a member of the non-lexical lifetimes, async/await and diagnostics working groups and has co-led the polymorphization and meta working groups. David is currently focused on improving the debugging experience in Rust.

In our day-to-day Rust development, we each produce lots of debug builds. In a large project, those debug builds can contain lots of debuginfo, all of which have to be linked together. Split DWARF takes the debuginfo that the linker doesn't need to process and throws it into a separate file that the linker can ignore - saving you valuable processor cycles during linking. In this talk, I'll explain the process of implementing Split DWARF support in rustc and of implementing thorin, a Split DWARF packaging utility, that is integrated into rustc.

Outline:
Introduction to Split DWARF(Split DWARF 的简介)
How Split DWARF works(Split DWARF 如何工作)
Implementing a Split DWARF packager(如何实现 Split DWARF packager)
Future of debugging support for Rust(对于 Rust 调试支持的未来展望)
